With the look of despair in the audience, Senior Justin Heisler shoots his first free-throw
of the game. The basket lets out a swoosh, and the crowd applauses. The boy’s
first basketball game of the season started off with a bang.
“We had a lot of younger guys playing, and we lost a couple good seniors last year’”
senior Kory Wolden said.
The boys lost to Shanley in their first game of the season.
“I thought we gave good effort. There was a lack of execution in some areas, but
not a lack of effort,” Coach Greg Limke said.
After halftime the boys started to rapidly pick it up, and scored twenty points in
six minutes. Coach Limke gave the team a motivated half time pep talk.
“[Coach talked about] switching defenses, going back to the basics, and to settle down a bit,” senior Brady Rotert said.
During the Packers timeout Shanley activities director, Randy Nelson, gave a donation of $405 to Ian Alves, Tessa Miller, and Levi Schulz, the West Fargo students that lost their lives.
“I would also like to thank Shanley for the donation. What an outstanding gesture.
That was a classy and we appreciate it,” Limke said.
The game ended with the score 75-56, with Shanley pulling ahead.
We felt other than the last 5 minutes of the first half we played well,” Limke said. “If we could get back to how we started and talk and play together wecould make a run at them. We give Shanley credit; they are a very good team.”
