Shane Dawson is the man who dresses like a female and makes comedy YouTube videos. He is the eighth most subscribed to person on YouTube with 795,905,008 video views. Most people think he is the funniest person on YouTube because he says everything he wants. He is so popular that if he promoted anything, people would drop everything and go out and buy that product or watch that video he mentioned.
On the set of the horror movie “Smiley,” Shane Dawson met aspiring actress Shanna Malcolm. The two immediately hit it off, and after almost six months he convinced her to make a YouTube channel.
Shanna Malcolm, also known on YouTube as “HeyYoShanna” boomed as soon as she first aired on YouTube. Dawson promoted her in every video he made and because of that, Malcolm has 11,304,665 video views.
I can easily see where all of the hype for Malcolm is coming from. She is new, fresh and has a unique personality. Her videos are somewhat random, making “Troof or Dare”, “On Da Skreets,” music videos, and other comedy segments.
In her “Troof or Dare” videos, she has viewers send in “Truth or Dare” prompts and she responds to them. In videos, Malcolm has done the cinnamon challenge, salt and ice challenge, the warhead challenge, and played “Slender Man.” She also does her “On Da Skreets” where she struts on the streets of Hollywood Boulevard asking people questions about the year’s trends, like “Most annoying song,” or “Ugliest actress’s baby.”
I do not know anyone else on YouTube who could pull this off as well as she does. Malcolm over-exaggerates everything as she did in her “Salt and Ice” challenge video, where she screamed so loud an opera singer got jealous. Malcolm can also pull off making anyone feel comfortable in her “On Da Skreets.” Her personality is hard not to like. In her video “Worst of 2012” she asked a random guy to teach her the “Gangnam Style” and he gladly did it.
Shanna also started making music videos such as “Brush that Tongue.” It is completely original, and is now selling on iTunes. In various other comedy segments Malcolm has done, “How to Get Pulled Over” for example, I find it difficult to stop laughing at the stupid humor. She says anything she wants and makes fun of trends like “Twilight” and “Hunger Games.”
Shanna Malcolm is worth watching. She grew from a wannabe actress to having 309,267 subscribers in just under four months. If she continues with her funny videos and her original music videos, she will soon be a top hit on YouTube.
