Sweetheart country singer, Taylor Swift, has a passion for singing about love’s past and present. In her latest album “Red,” her songs are about breakup and makeup, as usual, but Swift instead of her country style she adds a little more pop.
Swift fans had to wait for the follow up of her “Speak Now” album. After it was released Oct. 22, it was expected to sell over one million copies in the first week.
“Red” has 16 songs and two more original songs, two demo versions, and one acoustic version on the deluxe edition. Each song has its own unique flavor that is far different from Swift’s original country style. The first song of the album is “State of Grace,” which is a complete shocker for Swift because it is completely pop style with little to no country. The song keeps the listeners wanting more and continues with the party vibe through the rest of the album.
“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” became almost as famous as Carly Rae Jepson’s “Call Me Maybe” when it was first released. It was on Y94 and Bob 95 at least every hour and playing off of IPods of teens and adults all over the country. “Red” is a catchy song about Swift’s relationship being sad and blue when it’s lost, but loving them is red. Swift sings “Oh, my what a marvelous tune” in her song “Starlight” and she is right. The song is a great mix of country and pop and is incredibly fun.
Swifts duets “Everything has changed” and “The Last Time” is not her best work and artists Ed Sheermar and Gary Lightbody’s singing in the songs are the reasons to listen to the songs because the songs are not well written by Swift. Then Swifts song “I Almost do” is slow like the old Taylor, but doesn’t work for this specific album.
Swift puts incredible meaning into her song “The Lucky One.” The song is something you can listen to over and over again, and I don’t think Swift has to be worrying about “making it out alive” because she is always coming up with something better and better.
“Begin Again” ends the album perfectly and is old time country Taylor. The song is a beautiful mixture of pop and country twang and is a favorite of the album.
The songs are pop but add dashes of country twang in all the right places. Swift continues to improve in the music business and even though “Red” is something that no one has heard from Swift before. It’s sure to be a best seller.
