The digital world has evolved yet again. The new photo sending app Snapchat has taken teens phones by storm. this new app allows you to send a picture to a friend for up to ten seconds before it disappears forever . Poof, just like that any evidence of that picture is gone. Some say that this will encourage teens to partake in the dirty act known as sexting, but this is not what snapchat is for.
Snapchat creates a safe environment where you don’t have to worry about maintaining your digital reputation. It allows you to be spontaneous without having to worry about the consequences. Snapchat liberates you from the chains of social scrutiny and allows you to frolic in the freedom of being yourself. Since I started using Snapchat it has provided me with a new view on social networking. Snapchat allows digital communication, without the worry that what you say or do will come back to haunt you.
The interface of Snapchat is very user friendly. All of the different features of the app are easily accessible to users, and the photo sending process is simple and easy. However the colors are childish and bright, which is not a very refreshing look for this app. The app also features an over-abundance of the Snapchat corporation’s mascot, Ghostface Chillah, a play on the name of Wu Tang Clan frontman Ghostface Killah. While this mascot is enjoyably witty and clever, its overuse makes it more of a childish annoyance.
Overall Snapchat is a great app. The app has a fun and interestingly new purpose, combined with a very user friendly interface. While the graphics and visual design of the app can still use some work, Snapchat is definitely worth the free download.
