Fall band concert 2014

On Monday Oct. 14, the Band classes held their Fall Concert. It featured period one and period eight Jazz band, Concert band, Jazz Ensemble and Symphonic Band. It was directed by Sue Jordahl, Kelsi Wright and Miles Uhrich. Period one jazz band started the show off with El Taco Rocko and finished their segment with Opus One. Period eight came in with Cruise Control and O.D.’s Rock Shop. They were followed by Concert Band who performed Eagle Rock Overture, a musical representation of the West and the strength and faith of the people who lived there. This piece in particular varied with dramatic and solemn sounds.  It ended with a very similar rhythm of dance-celebration which had previously occurred in the beginning. Afterwards the band played The Red Balloon under the direction of  Uhrich. They then closed with Sailing Songs, a piece based on three well-known songs about sailors and the sea and featured both rhythmic and melodic aspects. Jazz Ensemble followed with Route 66, Freddie Freeloader and finished with Sister Sadie. Symphonic Band was the final act of the night. They begun with Fate of the Gods, a piece inspired by tales of Nordic mythology and ended the concert with a lively piece: The Stars and Stripes Forever. Band director Jordhal was pleased with the performance they gave that night.

“[These are] the most awesome kids in the world” Jordhal said.
