On Feb. 20, the boy’s swim team had a meet against Davies High School at the L.E. Berger pool. This was also senior night for the team which includes seniors Matt Montplaisir, Jarod Smith, Carson Keller, Austin Chase and Stephen Hulbert.

The boys won the meet against Davies which was also the first time senior Matt Montplaisir swam in a competition since his car accident happened.

“I was pretty excited about it,” Montplaisir said. “I like the feel that I’m helping the team and it just feels really good being in competition again.”

Montplaisir can primarily participate in freestyle because all other events put too much pressure on his hips. He also can only do in-water starts and open flip-turns. At the meet, Montplaisir swam the 50 meter and the 100 freestyle.

The pep band came to the L.E. Berger pool in support of Montplaisir.

“The pep band was great and I love them especially because I’m a part of it so I’m a little basis,” Montplaisir said. “It really amped everyone up and it created a really good environment for tonight.”
