Winter Pep Rally

Students filled the gymnasium last Wednesday afternoon, eager to witness what this year’s winter pep rally had in store. The pep rally began with a few songs from the High School band. There were performances by both West Fargo High dance teams as well.

The main events included two students from each grade level along with two teachers playing a game of ‘human hungry hippos’ and then competing in a dance-off. The game was intense and the crowd of students were boisterous in the bleachers.

The dance-off initiated  controversy. Spectators cheered vigorously for those they favored and even attempted booing those they did not. A sophomore, Brittney St. Aubin was booed and then shocked the crowd with impressive moves.

“I just naturally love to dance; I have a rhythm which is a major part of dancing but I also have a passion,” St. Aubin said. “I was quite surprised by the reaction my dancing got.”

The teacher team, Mitchell Smette and Lindsey Cossette, ended up winning the game of ‘human hungry hippos’ and senior Ewan Jones won the dance off.

“It was just for fun and we are all winners in our hearts,” fellow dance competitor sophomore Obadiah Pipeboy said.
