The cast and orchestra of the upcoming production “Beauty and the Beast” came together for their sitzprobe on Jan. 23. Sitzprobe is when the orchestra and cast of a show perform the vocal and instrumental music, together, for the first time. Keeping to West Fargo theatre tradition students, especially upperclassmen, dressed down for the occasion by wearing footie pajamas and bringing blankets, pillows or yarn for knitting to the rehearsal.

Pit orchestra conductor Karen Morrison described the rehearsal as a true success.

“It’s going superbly well,” Morrison said. “[This is] so exciting.”

Similarly, senior Danielle Haekenkamp who plays the alto saxophone, was pleased with sitzprobe despite having doubts initially.

“[This rehearsal] is a lot better than I expected,” Haekenkamp said. “I expected train wrecks and it’s not.”

“Beauty and the Beast” will be performed at  Sheyenne High School the weekends of Feb. 13-15 and Feb. 20-22.
