Sonic opens with style

Toby Kindem, Business Manager

Car hop waiters and waitresses skate across the Sonic parking lot, a common view for customers pulling up at the new fast food joint. Since it has opened, customers have been piling in, and for valid reason.

Unlike most restaurants, Sonic features a car hopping experience. A customer drives into a stall with a menu stand on the driver’s side, pushes a nice big red button to order and their food arrives, but with a twist: their waiters and waitresses who not only serve food, but artfully skate it to the customer. This is just one of several aspects that makes Sonic a standout among other restaurants.

Sonic’s quick service exceeds also expectations.  Although the newly opened business is still working out some of the bugs with their electronics, there is short wait time on food and friendly and efficient servers.

The food at Sonic is delicious as well, with the perfect blend of grease and salt. The options range from a foot long chili cheese dog to a double bacon Sonic burger. A first-time customer must try one of Sonic’s famous nerd slushies, which include flavors from sour blue raspberries to sweet cotton candy.

Overall, Sonic has more than acceptable customer service and the food is beyond the quality of any other fast food restaurant in the FM area. These factors combined with Sonic’s famous slushies and unique car hops make it a true competitor for a new Fargo favorite.
